Online Textbook Access

I have set up an account for the children so they can access the textbook and other support materials online.  There are review questions, sample tests, vocabulary quizzes, etc. to help them prepare for the test tomorrow.  I will also put this information into an email, in case you need to access it for any other tests this year.

Unit 2, Chapter 6

Chapter 6 Study Guide test 2/21/13

Know all Chapter 6 vocabulary (already defined in notebooks)

Describe four characteristics that all living things share (list in notebook)

Know the differences/similarities between eukaryotic cell and prokaryotic cell   (worksheet done in class Tuesday)

Why did Linnaeus create the classification system for all organisms (besides to torture 6^th grade Science students????)

What are the 4 macromolecules that make up cells?

Why do plant cells produce their own food and animal cells do not?

Bonus: (we will complete a sample of this in class Wednesday)

·        Be able to compare the parts of a cell with the pictures we drew to illustrate how a cell works like a city. (which part of a cell is like the city hall, which is like the power plant, etc.)

Chapter 6 test 2/21/13

1/10/13 Update

Happy New Year to everyone!  We have been working very hard in 6th Grade Science - what a delightful way for me to start every morning.  Our topic this month has been our planet Earth - they have been very interested in plate tectonics and the theory of Pangea.  We will have a quiz on these topics Wednesday, Jan. 16, Chapter 4, Lesson 1.  They have vocabulary to study and a summary sheet to review and diagrams in their notebooks.  That should cover all information for the quiz.  This will be our last grade for the 2nd quarter.

Chapter 3 Quiz 12/21/12

There will be a quiz on Chapter 3 on Friday, Dec. 21.  Please have your children practice the vocabulary and reread the chapter in order to prepare for this quiz.  A study guide with more specific information will be given to them on Monday and I will post it here on the blog as well.

Chapter 2 Test 11/29/12 Study Guide

Here is the information I gave the children today for their test on Thursday.  They should be studying their summary sheets, vocabulary and should know the answers to the following short answer questions.

1. Explain how gravity helped form the solar system.
2. Compare Earth to the other inner planets.
3. Contrast Earth with the outer planets.

Chapter 2 Test 11/29/12

The Chapter 2 test will be given on Thursday, 11/29/12.  The children would be wise to read over the chapter a few times over break and practice vocabulary.  Review sheets will start coming home Monday, 11/26 as we spend time reviewing in class.  Please email me at mlbuster@torahacademy.org with any questions or concerns and have a very happy Thanksgiving!
